SPRINKLERS

Sprinkler systems are an effective way of protecting your property and preventing the spread of fire, so if a fire does occur, the effects and loss will be minimised.

We can help you to choose the most suitable system for you, whether you’re looking for pre-action, wet, or dry valves / systems.

We have a dedicated sprinkler division, Senseco Sprinkler Systems, certificated to LPS10148 level 3 covering design, installation, modifications and maintenance.

Dry / Wet Risers

Dry Risers are a system of pipe work and valves that runs up through a building. This allows fire fighters to connect their fire appliance so they can easily access water from each individual floor of the building. It consists of a vertical pipe with a water inlet on ground level located on an external wall and outlets known as landing valves, which are usually located in a dry riser cabinet on each floor. Wet risers are systems in taller buildings permanently filled and pressurised with water with their own pumps.

These systems require an annual pressure text and 6 monthly visual inspection which we carry out with our in house team to BS9990.

HYDRANTS

A fire hydrant is a point where firefighters can get access to and connect into a water supply. They are used in a variety of locations and are an important component of active fire fighting. Therefore it is important that fire hydrants are kept in good working order.

They require an annual flow and pressure test to ensure when they are needed, they are reliable and effective. They are serviced in line with BS9990 which we carry out with our in house team.

MAINTENANCE & ADVICE

Any “wet” fire suppression / fire fighting system is only as good as the maintenance regime out is under. The nature of these systems mean they are relied upon to stop the spread of fire or extinguish / suppress it. It is vital therefore that they are maintained by a competent approved company so they can be relied on to protect your property. It is usually an insurance requirement to have a “wet” fire suppression system and ensure it is maintained by an LPCB approved company.

Somerset House

Somerset House is a heritage property dating back to 1547 in the heart of London. Although it is well known for it’s outdoor skating rink at Christmas and open air concerts in the summer, it has many other uses and accommodates many other tenants. It hosts the UK’s largest creative community working globally across art, technology, business and social enterprise.

The South Wing of Somerset House had a mix of hard wired fire detection system, an obsolete radio / wireless fire detection system and many aspiration systems, most no longeroperational. The project was to replace all of the systems in the South Wing with a single fire detection system for all areas and provide graphical representation of this wing and two other wings with legacy systems on a single graphics platform.

This was all to be carried out within a listed building with mixed use and different tenants with minimal disruption to day to day operations.

Castle Mall

Located in the centre of Norwich City, Castle Mall shopping centre comprises of 60 stores and food outlets, across five levels of retail and leisure, including an 8-screen Vue cinema. The centre also boasts a 790 space multi-storey car park.

The fire detection and alarm system installed in the shopping centre was a Honeywell FC90 system, which was closed protocol and had reached the end of its working life. A replacement system was therefore needed to provide a modern supportable system for the shopping centre.

This is a working shopping centre so minimal disruption to the operation of the shopping centre, retailers and shoppers was of paramount importance.

Uniper Power Station in Enfield had fire, suppression and voice alarm systems that had reached the end of their serviceable life.  They needed modern control equipment which would combine controls for different extinguishing systems into a centralised control station.  The extinguishing systems themselves also needed replacing or updating.
