Gas Extinguishing

We’re experienced at the full range of gaseous extinguishing systems for all different types of environment, and we can advise you on the best suppression system to meet your needs.

We offer the full range of inert gas suppression systems, which are an environmentally-friendly form of extinguishing. They use inert gases that are naturally occurring in the normal atmosphere we breathe. The systems work by introducing an inert gas to reduce oxygen to levels where a fire can’t be supported, while remaining at a safe level for people to breathe.

We install chemical gases such as FK-5-1-12 (commonly known as NOVEC 1230 which is a 3M brand name) which is ideal for small comms rooms or where space is at a premium. We also maintain systems such as HFC227ea (FM200), but due to F Gas regulations and restrictions, we find our clients are often looking for different solutions.

For new-build applications, inert gas systems are ideal because storage space can be allocated for the cylinders at the design stage. Also, if you’re protecting multiple areas, it’s possible to use diverter valves, so a single bank of cylinders can protect these areas. The cylinders can be stored in plant rooms or corridors to avoid them taking up expensive floor space in the data suite itself.

All inert gases work in the same way, but we can offer the full range to meet your requirements or match your existing systems. So, whether it’s Inergen (IG541) or an IG55 system such as Argonite or Pro-Inert, our manufacturer partnerships offer you of a wide choice of systems.

If you’re looking for an environmentally friendly option but don’t have the space for the cylinders needed for an inert gas, FK-5-1-12 (commonly known as NOVEC 1230 which is a 3M brand name) is perfect. This gas uses a similar cylinder footprint to FM200 but has a Global Warming Potential of 1 and a very short atmospheric life. FK-5-1-12 also has the benefit of being stored as a liquid and then converting to a gas at the nozzles. This makes refill after a discharge easy. FK-5-1-12 offers you the best of both worlds, and you can pick from a variety of systems including Sapphire.

As a true independent we can provide impartial advice and guide you on the best system to suit your needs and for the environment where it will be installed.

We carry out Room Integrity Testing in house for when new systems are installed and annually as part of the ongoing maintenance.

Somerset House

Somerset House is a heritage property dating back to 1547 in the heart of London. Although it is well known for it’s outdoor skating rink at Christmas and open air concerts in the summer, it has many other uses and accommodates many other tenants. It hosts the UK’s largest creative community working globally across art, technology, business and social enterprise.

The South Wing of Somerset House had a mix of hard wired fire detection system, an obsolete radio / wireless fire detection system and many aspiration systems, most no longeroperational. The project was to replace all of the systems in the South Wing with a single fire detection system for all areas and provide graphical representation of this wing and two other wings with legacy systems on a single graphics platform.

This was all to be carried out within a listed building with mixed use and different tenants with minimal disruption to day to day operations.

Castle Mall

Located in the centre of Norwich City, Castle Mall shopping centre comprises of 60 stores and food outlets, across five levels of retail and leisure, including an 8-screen Vue cinema. The centre also boasts a 790 space multi-storey car park.

The fire detection and alarm system installed in the shopping centre was a Honeywell FC90 system, which was closed protocol and had reached the end of its working life. A replacement system was therefore needed to provide a modern supportable system for the shopping centre.

This is a working shopping centre so minimal disruption to the operation of the shopping centre, retailers and shoppers was of paramount importance.

Uniper Enfield

Uniper’s portfolio combines large-scale power generation and management of energy supply chains. Uniper’s former parent company was E.ON, who now focus on the new energy world.

Uniper Power Station in Enfield had fire, suppression and voice alarm systems that had reached the end of their serviceable life.  They needed modern control equipment which would combine controls for different extinguishing systems into a centralised control station.  The extinguishing systems themselves also needed replacing or updating.

Senseco were chosen to provide a bespoke solution providing controls and upgrades for gas extinguishing, water mist and deluge systems along with a replacement voice alarm rack.  Our power station expertise and ability to provide flexible, custom built solutions to meet Uniper’s needs were key to the project.
